The Barrie Country Club is well known for its excellent golf course having been described as traditional and challenging while providing a fair test of golf for all levels. Noted Canadian golf course architect, Graham Cooke established an extensive renovation plan for the course which was completed in 2002. This included the reshaping of several bunkers, the addition of several new tee decks along with the expansion of existing tee decks.
Members are actively involved in the social scene at the club and take part in a variety of leagues, in-house tournaments, and fun events such as the Opening and Closing events, the Club Championship, and a series of inter-club competitions. The Men's Captains Committee and the Ladies' Captains Committee provides input and feedback to the pro shop to help enhance the experience of both sections. The BCC has a very active junior membership and offers camps, clinics and private lessons. These programs are based around having fun while increasing their skills and knowledge of the etiquette of golf.
The club offers year-round, full-service dining in The Grill Room and social events including special themed dinners. For the second year the Trillium Room will be transformed into the Trillium Golf Lounge with 2 Trackman simulators and creating a casual dining experience for members and their guests to enjoy the Executive Chef's latest creations, catch a sports game or for a little competition at a round of darts or ping pong.
