Food & Beverage Supervisor

Job Summary:

Are you passionate for hospitality?! The Barrie Country Club is excited to be hiring for the position of a Food and Beverage Supervisor. We are looking for someone that is reliable, flexible, a team player and a fantastic leader!

This is a full-time, year-round position. The successful applicant would have both restaurant managerial experience as well as banquet experience. This position does involve weekend, evening and holiday shifts due to the nature of the industry, and therefore having a flexible schedule is a requirement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Organize, direct and evaluate food and beverage service
  • ​Proactively manage and oversee all daily operations of the restaurant
  • Recruit and train new and returning staff
  • Ensure all team members understand and maintain operating standards
  • Promote a positive work environment and culture by maintaining strong and supportive relationships with all team members
  • Motivate team members to strive for exceptional customer service
  • Ensure practice of health and safety regulations
  • Performance management: monitor staff performance and provide feedback
  • Shift scheduling for all restaurant and banquet operations
  • Ensure that wedding receptions and golf tournaments banquets are properly set up to run smoothly
  • Lead by example as a proactive team player
  • Perform all budgeting for the Food and Beverage department
  • Monitor revenues and expenses
  • Negotiate supplier arrangements for food and beverage products
  • Attend regular meetings with other department managers

Qualifications & Assets:

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience leading a team of at least 10 people
  • ​Managerial experience in a restaurant setting
  • Passionate about hospitality
  • Banquet experience
  • Excellent communication skills with vendors, customers, employees etc.
  • Excellent training skills and previous success in training employees
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Leads by example
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of the game of golf is an asset

Job Duties
  • Adhere to and enforce all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, and legislation regarding health and safety, food preparation standards, and company policies and procedures
  • Be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism by following the company dress code and/or wearing the company uniform
  • Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude at all times
  • Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately
  • Greet customers with a smile and answer their questions as required
  • Proactively attend to customer complaints in a professional manner
  • Inspect property and services to ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory requirements
  • Maintain familiarity with the composition of all menu items
  • Advise customers on food and beverage choices, making suggestions when necessary
  • Take orders from customers and ensure these are given to the appropriate person to execute
  • Check identification of customers to make sure they meet the age requirements for the purchase of alcohol
  • Ensure all equipment and tools are being used safely and according to provided direction
  • Ensure food is handled and, stored according to health and safety standards, and that proper cleanup occurs to meet health regulations
  • Clean tables and ensure they are cleaned as soon as it is apparent that customers have finished their food or drink with an acceptable balance between speed, yet allowing customers to finish their meal without feeling rushed
  • Compile and balance receipts at the end of the day/shift,
  • Set tables according to established standards, ensuring that all items used are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair
  • Assist wait and kitchen staff as needed during peak times
  • Help to raise the standards within the restaurant and bring new concepts forth
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of food services industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques
  • Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of customers and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
